As a fellow shorty, here’s what I recommend with the information given. Way more likely to render aid rather than defend yourself in a shooting depending on where you live. The ballistic argument is kind of redundant.380 is capable with modern advancements in ammo. Then use your own time to learn CCW legalities on where you live, where you travel to and see what is within the law. Everyone and their situations are different and may not apply to you. Take in all opinions and learn what’s bullshit. Don’t put full faith to any instructor, Reddit, YouTube or anything. I carry between Glocks 19 and 26 mostly, and a 42 for light clothing. I know some people worry being first time carriers with a round in the chamber and having it de-cocked just gives you a slightly heavier trigger for the first shot and short trigger pulls after. Plus, with the beretta you get the piece of mind with the DA/SA. Beretta has been making weapons for 400 years so, they’ve thought of everything. Mostly because the PX4 is comparable to the Glock 19 but it has that twisting barrel to reduce recoil. Otherwise, I was thinking for appendix or side carry, a Glock 43x or a Beretta PX4. You get 10 rounds and can get an extended mag. Now, my shoulder holster is perfect for something like a Glock 26. A Glock 17 is like a desert Eagle on me, lol! It will remain my bedside gun. I have a few guns and holsters and I’ve been wearing them around the house. ![]() We’re already short so being stocky combined with a low center of gravity helps, lol!īut if you can’t afford steroids to put 30lbs of muscle on in the next month or so (I’m joking of course) I’d still go the 9mm route. ![]() Weights help a lot to keep people from screwing with you. If you have follow up questions, ask it in this group. After that, get a good holster and a stiff belt-wear it around your house to adapt to it so you don’t feel awkward in public. My best advice is to recommend shooting a variety of handguns to see what best fits your hands and what you feel comfortable operating. It’s been expensive and sometimes frustrating to get where I am today. I work in a lot of unforgiving environments, so it must remain completely concealed. I have a Glock 19 that is easy to shoot and functions every time, but it’s harder to conceal. I moved to a Smith&Wesson j-frame revolver for ease of concealment-it gets hot where I live. The 380 is not reliable, so I lost there too. I didn’t like shooting an itty-bitty 9, so I got an itty-bitty 380. If it sucks to shoot it, you won’t practice. 380 or 9 can be very snappy and hard to run in an itty-bitty gun. I’ve been doing CCW for about 20 years and I believe the answer you seek depends on lots of factors. Reddiquette: Please abide by proper reddiquette.
